General ROTY Racing Rules
- Purpose: ROTY Racing Rules defines its events as a Season Overall Series to determine top riders in each discipline and best all around (ROTY combines points from TOI/W, MATTS, and special ROTY events).
- Sanctioning: WIIL events, including TOI/W and ROTY, are sanctioned by ABR.
- Series Overall Awards:
- Require minimum participation to qualify for end-of-season awards (prizes, medals, trophies, plaques, cash, and jersey).
- Presented to top riders at the WIIL Awards Banquet at the end of the season.
- Medals: Awarded 5 deep in each race class.
- Association Fee: Race Promoters will pay a WIIL Association Fee of $1.00 per rider per day to cover costs of Overall Awards, Jerseys, Banquet, advertising, and shared equipment.
- Entry Fees: At the discretion of the race promoters.
- Results Reporting:
- Chief Official is responsible for providing race results to the Points Tabulator and ABR no later than the day after the event date.
- Pending results will be posted to the website no later than 24 hours after the end of the event.
- WIIL Promoters agree to use the same Excel Results spreadsheets to make it easy for WIIL Points Tabulator to point WIIL Series quickly and efficiently.
- Official Results must be posted within five days after the event.
- Race Entry:
- Racers may enter & race more than one (1) eligible race class (enter twice, race twice).
- Women race classes are open to Women Only.
- All Open race classes are open to both genders.
- Age Eligibility: Riders must race their age to be eligible for series overall awards. Riders who race outside their age category in mass start events will be eligible for event awards, but their results will not be calculated into overall TOI/W or ROTY points as of Jan 1, 2014.
- Participation: Requires starting; racers who start but fail to finish (DNF) an event will qualify for that event.
Tour of Illinois & Wisconsin (TOI/W) Race Classes and Rules
- Description: This race series is comprised of criterium and road racing events in the Illinois Wisconsin Area. Riders earn points based on their finish in these events towards overall awards at the end of the season.
- Race Classes:
- Junior Open age 14 & under, 15-18
- Junior Women age 14 & under, 15-18
- Open (Cat 1/2), Cat 3, Cat 4
- Women Cat 1/2, Cat 3, Cat 4
- Men and Women Master age groups 30+, 40+, 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+, 80+, 85+, 90+
- Points and Scoring:
- Awards: 5 deep in each class.
- 20 Deep (All classes, new for this year):
- 1st: 25 points
- 2nd: 22 points
- 3rd: 20 points
- 4th: 19 points
- 5th: 18 points
- 6th: 17 points
- 7th: 16 points
- 8th: 15 points
- 9th: 14 points
- 10th: 13 points
- 11th: 12 points
- 12th: 11 points
- 13th: 10 points
- 14th: 9 points
- 15th: 8 points
- 16th: 7 points
- 17th: 6 points
- 18th: 5 points
- 19th: 4 points
- 20th: 3 points
- Note: Double points or other incentive points offered by a promoter for their series will not apply to the above scoring.
- Participation Points: Racers who start but fail to finish (DNF) an event will qualify for that event. A “0” will be placed in the point tabulation column for the event that rider DNF.
- Series Overall Awards Eligibility: Riders competing in this series must complete at least five (5) TOI/W events to qualify for overall trophy awards.
(Rider of the Year) ROTY Racing Rules and Classes
- Description: This series combines points from TOI/W, MATTS, and ROTY special events. Riders earn points in both mass start and time trial events towards overall awards at the end of the season.
- Race Classes:
- Junior Men and Junior Women age 14 and under and 15-18
- Women Cat 1, 2, 3, Women Cat 4, Women Master age groups 30-39, 40-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89 & 90+
- Open race classes Cat 1/2, Cat 3, Cat 4, Master Age Groups: 30-39, 40-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89 & 90+
- Points Tabulation:
- Points from MATTS – Women age 20 to 29 merges into Women Category 1/2, Cat 3, or Cat 4/5.
- Points from MATTS – Men age 20-29 merge into rider Category 1/2, Cat 3, or Cat 4/5.
- Awards and Scoring:
- Awards: Five deep in each class.
- Eligibility: A rider’s best eight (8) MATTS and best eight (8) TOI/W & ROTY Criterium or Road races qualify for overall ROTY awards.
- Points: Points received from MATTS, TOI/W, and special ROTY events are used in ROTY points tabulation.
- Rule: Riders who race outside their category in mass start events will be eligible for event awards, but their results will not be calculated into ROTY points as of Jan 1, 2014.
- Tie Breakers for Series Overall Standings:
- 1st Tie-Breaker: The racer participating in the most events of the series.
- 2nd Tie-Breaker: The racer who places highest in the final event of the series.
